Hi Sam. I like that you're a third culture kid. It's neat and adds another unique perspective to the wonderful city of Iowa city. Stay super cool.

I lived in both Thailand and Hungary as a child and although both were wonderful experiences, I feel like I missed out on a normal childhood. When I returned to the states, I was in complete culture shock, and didn't fit in at all. No one knew that I didn't belong- I looked like everyone else- but inside I felt different. Other kids made me feel insecure about my background, while adults thought it was "so interesting." I don't think about my TCK experiences much anymore. I've learned that other people really don't care.
